Condition of Used Books:
We stock only the best conditions of used books. If we wouldn't purchase the book for our own collection, we are not selling it to you. We judge the condition of each book by spine damage, paper damage, and cover damage. We also price each book based on what condition we have rated it. To find what condition a book is in, please click on the product image and it will open more details. You will see this information under the "Product Info" section.

Like New Condition: This book will have little to no damage. It will look like it would if you bought it off the shelf at a store. It will still be cheaper than a brand-new book but will be the most expensive type of used book that we sell. Price point will range from $7-$9, depending on genre and if it is paperback or hardback.

Good Condition: This book will have minor damage. The damage may range from bent corners on the cover, small imperfections on the pages or a dust cover that is banged up. It will still look beautiful on any shelf, and it is the perfect price mix between Like New and Acceptable. Most will range from $5-$7, depending on genre and if it is paperback or hardback.

Acceptable Condition: This book has been loved a little harder than the others. It may have a bent spine, yellowing or heavier damaged pages, but it still has years of reading and life left in it. If you do not mind having a book that is not aesthetically pleasing looking, this will be the perfect book and price for you, with most ranging from $3.50-$5 depending on genre and if it is paperback or hardback.
Donating Used Books:
If you are debating on getting rid of some books, please consider sending them our way. As a new Independent Bookstore, we are funding everything out of pocket and would be so appreciative of community support with building our used book inventory. The main goal of Nocturne Novels is to make reading and owning books more affordable to everyone. By prioritizing our used inventory stock, we can make this happen!

If you are not local but would still like to donate, shipping will be 100% free for you. We will gladly send you a prepaid shipping label for you to print out and slap on that book donation package! Please contact us via email or phone to get this set up.

For every book that is donated, reviewed for condition, and qualifies to be sold, you will get one point added to your account. Every 10 points is a $1 off any USED book order you place. To ensure you get your points for any qualifying donation, please make sure you create an account with us!

We offer free shipping on orders over $50 (U.S. only).

Packaging:
We take care to package your books securely to prevent damage. Whenever possible, we use eco-friendly materials to reduce waste.

Order Tracking:
Once your order ships, you’ll receive a confirmation email with tracking information so you can follow your books every step of the way.

Lost or Damaged Packages:
If your package arrives damaged or doesn’t arrive at all, please reach out to us within 7 days of the expected delivery date. We’ll work with you to resolve the issue.
Returns:
We want you to love every book you receive from us! If for any reason you’re not satisfied with your purchase, please review our return and refund guidelines below.

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery.

To be eligible for a return, items must be in their original condition—unread, unused, and with any original packaging intact.

Sale items are final sale and cannot be returned.

How to Start a Return:

Once approved, we’ll provide return instructions.

Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless the return is due to our error of a wrong book being shipped.

Refunds:

Once we receive and inspect your returned item(s), we’ll process your refund to your original payment method within 5-7 business days.

Original shipping fees are non-refundable unless the return is due to an error on our part.

If your return is approved but you paid for expedited shipping, only the standard shipping cost will be refunded.

Damaged or Incorrect Orders:
If your item arrives damaged from shipping or you receive the wrong book, please contact us within 7 days of delivery with a photo of the issue. We’ll send a replacement or issue a full refund, including shipping costs.

Exchanges:
Need a different book or accidentally ordered the wrong one? Contact us and we’ll do our best to arrange an exchange if the item is in stock.
